Denise B. Maxwell :: The LOONS Flyfishing ClubTHE PETER MORRISON MEMORIAL CASTING CLINIC in 2016 was a time to refresh and learn new skills or techniques from a master at the art… Denise Maxwell, fondly known as the ‘Lady of the Bulkley’, she is owner/operator of Maxwell Steelhead Guides.

A former Canadian Women’s Casting Champion for distance and accuracy, and a master level instructor, Denise shared what was needed to understand and apply the basics to fly casting, as well as more advanced techniques with those already comfortable with energizing a line with single-handed rods.

Two hours of instruction and practice were followed by a cast-off for accuracy with members testing both their eye and finesse to land the fly in the hoop at varying distances… or not.

All who came enjoyed their time on the water or the pleasure of hang time on a Saturday morning. Chuck Vaugeois, our tailgate chef extraordinaire, served up aa awesome lunch of BBQ’d sausages on a bun with all the fixings, nibblies and liquid refreshments. Prizes were handed out by Jim White, Chair of The LOONS Flyfishing Club to wrap up the clinic.
