A rare moment… all club members in one place, at one time …to celebrate our 25th Anniversary!
ON NOVEMBER 5th 2011, MEMBERS OF THE LOONS FLYFISHING CLUB, our families and friends in BC’s fly fishing community gathered at the Langara Golf Course Club House in Vancouver to reflect on ‘then’ and ‘now’, and to celebrate this milestone. The event was well attended and those who came had a great time, mingled with friends or made new ones… dinner was excellent… and, the club also did a little fundraising!
The evening commenced with Steve Normann, Vice-Chairman, welcoming members and guests then invited Chuck Vaugeois, Chairman, to say a few words. Chuck spoke about the club’s history with highlights being shown in a visual presentation that followed his speech. A slideshow of images from the club’s formative years to present day ran through the evening… at times a few chuckles emerged from the audience as images from the club’s earliest years came on screen!
One of the many highlights of our celebration was the unveiling of the original commemorative art that the club commissioned Alan Steeves to create a design in the First Nations style that he is known for as a pair of loons.
The original artwork was donated by Alan as part of his contribution to the club’s fundraising efforts. The framed artwork may be auctioned online at some point in 2012.

The Silent Auction had a great selection of fly fishing and non-fishing items that were generously donated by organizations or individuals who were wanting to support the club at the 25th Anniversary Celebration. In addition to the Silent Auction, several items were auctioned off live with Ron Schiefke serving as our auctioneer, which added more entertainment to the evening!
The LOONS Flyfishing Club extends a big THANK YOU to all who made this event was it was and for joining in the celebrations.
